Flower Lab: Nature and Design

The “flower vase” is lately increasingly becoming an extraordinarily investigated object by designers, architects and artists, all interested in rediscovering, re-reading and re-enacting an element that apparently seems just a detail in our daily lives, in our environment and in the atmosphere we wish to create. Not only flowers, but also plants, aromatic herbs, sometimes fruits…..and then color, scent, matter ……. shapes that not only brighten places up and adorn grey areas but that clearly become elements of design and decor.     

Maria Rita Nori’s flower lab creates flower arrangements of any type and size, with simple materials and with not necessarily prized flowers, but with technique, imagination and professionalism, results are unthinkable…. 

Flower Lab will each month propose a ​​Flower design idea just for You. Basic, simple, original, created even just with the simplicity of a flower or the elegance of a stem …….. and will tell you every detail for its realization.

Flower Lab: tra natura e design

In questi ultimi anni il “vaso di fiori” è diventato sempre più un oggetto straordinariamente indagato da designer, architetti e artisti, tutti interessati a riscoprire, rileggere e riattualizzare un elemento apparentemente solo di dettaglio nella nostra quotidianità, nei nostri ambienti e nelle atmosfere che desideriamo creare. Non solo fiori, ma anche piante, erbe aromatiche, talvolta frutta…..e poi colore, profumo, materia…….forme che non solo rallegrano spazi vitali e ornano zone d’ombra ma divengono veri e propri elementi di design e di arredo.

Nel laboratorio floreale di Maria Rita Nori si creano arredi floreali di ogni importanza e misura, con materiali anche semplici, con fiori non necessariamente pregiatissimi, ma con la tecnica, la fantasia e la professionalità i risultati si rivelano impensabili….

Per Voi, Flower Lab ogni mese proporrà un’idea di Flower design, essenziale, semplice, originale, da creare anche solo con la semplicità di un fiore o l’eleganza di uno stelo……e Vi svelerà ogni dettaglio per la sua realizzazione.

Idea of the month, September

Must Have:

• Transparent cylindrical vase

Shopping List:

• Brassica flower (cabbage flower)
• Allium “Gladiator” (garlic flower)
• Papaver (poppy berry)
• Dahlia
• Beargrass to cover the vase

Must Know:

• Put water before beargrass into the vase. Blades do not have to be separated (they come in small bunches) otherwise they can’t be used.
• Place flowers with Dahila in the middle.
• Do not place indoors because flowers have a strong smell.

Must Have:

• Vaso trasparente cilindrico.

Shopping List:

• Fiori di Brassica  (fiori di cavolo),
• Allium  “Gladiator”  (fiori di aglio),
• Papaver  (bacche di papavero),
• Dalia
• Beargrass per rivestire il vaso.

Must Know:

• Mettere l’acqua nel vaso prima dei fili di Beargrass, che non vanno separati (si comprano a mazzetti uniti), altrimenti non si riescono ad utilizzare.
• Posizionare i fiori con al centro la Dalia.
• Non tenere in ambiente chiuso perchè sono fiori con odore intenso.

Peter Anton – Art Sweet Art!

 

I could scarcely believe my eyes!……..in a fancy Art Gallery on Worth Avenue, Palm Beach – Florida……wall relief sculptures of gigantic boxes of chocolate and almost human-sized ice cream bars……..and cakes and donuts……….boxes filled with partially eaten chocolates and empty wrappers, the bars bitten into and partially melted!!!!

This is “The Art of Candy” of Peter Anton……..How sweet it is!!

Even if Candies (edible candies) have been the sweet obsession of almost every child from as far back as can be remembered, Peter Anton’s relief sculptures are larger than life, and, as size matters in aesthetics, their appeal is also larger than life!

I love Peter Anton’s Art……it’s feast for the eye!

Non potevo credere ai miei occhi!…..in una elegante Galleria d’Arte in Worth Avenue, Palm Beach – Florida……sculture appese sulle pareti di giganti scatole di cioccolatini e gelati pressoché a grandezza umana…….e torte e donuts……..scatole piene di cioccolatini parzialmente mangiati e incarti vuoti, i gelati addentati e in parte sciolti!!!!

Questa è “The Art of Candy” di Peter Anton……..How sweet it is!!

Anche se i Dolciumi (quelli commestibili) sono stati da sempre la dolce ossessione praticamente di ogni bambino, le creazioni di Peter Anton sono più grandi di quelli reali, e, dal momento che la dimensione conta in estetica, esercitano anche un’attrazione maggiore dei veri!

Adoro l’Arte di Peter Anton……è una festa per gli occhi!

We ladies feel always quite special when thinking of Fashion compare to the   boys, as we do have such a wider choice of designers, and while there is a Men  fashion week in Milan and Paris, the Haute Couture is just for us the ladies.

But, boys have their Haute Couture as well, is just that is called Bespoke, and one  of their secret is John Lobb shoes, a brand part of Hermes group with which it shares the amazing selection in leathers.

“Camouflage” Floor Lamp

Ecco a Voi “Camouflage”, lampada da terra militar chic, pensata da Suite106 come elemento di design d’arredo. L’ormai famoso tessuto stampato a macchie mimetiche sui toni del verde e del fango accostato alle differenti stringhe di finitura a contrasto nei rigorosi colori del nero o marrone o in quelli vitaminici del fucsia o giallo consente a questo oggetto di assumere differenti declinazioni.

La storia dello stile militare comincia negli anni Sessanta. Nei cortei dei contestatori si vedevano sfilare giovani con l’eskimo verde militare, acquistato nei mercatini del vintage, che allora era l’usato. Dopo qualche decennio gli stilisti hanno fatto proprio nella Moda questo stile totalmente lontano da idee guerrafondaie.

A noi è piaciuto portare il piglio del militar style anche nel design d’arredo!

Suite106 presents an element of home furnishing design called “Camouflage”, a military chic floor standing lamp.  The use of this now famous camouflage print, with its tones of greens and mud colours combined with different contrasting finishes from rigorous black and brown to uplifting fuchsia or yellow, allows this object to adapt to different looks. 

The history of this military style begins in the 1960’s. Young protesters in demonstrations wore green military parka jackets, bought from second hand markets, what we would now call “vintage”. Decade’s later stylists have used this style and made it their own bringing it far from its warmongering origins. 

We liked the idea of bringing this military style tone into our home furnishing design!

Marilyn Monroe.Tribute to a female Icon. Roma, 8 giugno 2012 / Miami, August 5th 2012

Through a symbolic relay with Italy and the U.S., on the dates that marked her life, the Galleria Ca’ d’Oro dedicated the exhibition “Marilyn Monroe: Tribute to a Female Icon” to the American actress.

The exhibition’s first stop will be Rome, in the historic Palazzo Wedekind in Piazza Colonna, only a few days after what would have been the stars 86th birthday, then the exposition heads to the Galleria Ca’ d’Oro in Miami Florida, where the inauguration will be held on the date that marks the fiftieth anniversary of Marilyn’s death.

For this symbolic reason Gloria Porcella and Lamberto Petrecca have chosen the months of June and August for the double launch for the exhibition.

Con una simbolica staffetta Italia-Usa, nelle date che ne segnarono la vita, la Galleria Ca’ d’Oro dedica all’attrice americana la mostra “Marilyn Monroe. Tribute to a female icon”, a cura di Gloria Porcella e Lamberto Petrecca.

L’esposizione farà prima tappa a Roma, a piazza Colonna nello storico Palazzo Wedekind, per poi volare a Miami, Stati Uniti, nella sede della Galleria Ca’ d’Oro a Coral Gables. Italia e America, dunque, in occasione dell’anniversario della nascita e della morte di Norma Jean Baker, in arte Marilyn Monroe. Il 1 giugno 2012 l’attrice avrebbe compiuto 86 anni, mentre il 5 agosto 2012 si ricordano i cinquant’anni trascorsi dalla sua scomparsa.

Gloria Porcella e Lamberto Petrecca hanno così scelto i mesi di giugno e agosto per la doppia inaugurazione della mostra.

Harbour Island, Bahamas: I love it!

 

Harbour Island is a pink-sand paradise in the Bahamas. An island steeped in a glamorous beach history, this tiny little Bahamian refuge has retained much of its charm and allure that made it feel like a Robinson Crusoe-meets-Vogue getaway in the first place. Getting to Harbour Island is a commitment, undoubtedly part of the reason it has remained as it always was, with only a handful of boutique hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops set amidst candy-colored clapboard houses.

Just back from a new trip to this magical Island, I’m so happy to share with you some special places that I love….

I magazines da oggetti poggiati sopra ai piani dei tavolini finiscono sotto e ne diventano elementi strutturali? Diciamo che questo è l’effetto! In realtà “Mag” è un coffee table con degli elementi strutturali a scomparsa che consentono di viverlo come tale ancor prima di avere collezionato un gran numero di riviste. La filosofia con cui è stato ideato permette di vedere questo elemento di arredo trasformarsi nel tempo in base al numero e al tipo di magazines collocati al suo interno.  “Mag”, che fa dell’essenzialità il suo dictat, è capace di esprimere appieno la personalità di chi lo fa vivere.
